Introduction

Our 10 week Summer Chinese course offerings are a great way for learners of Chinese, or even those who want to start learning, to get a high-quality instructional experience in learning a second language! This year (2017), we are adding an additional course option, “Chinese Chat Workshops,” where students will have the opportunity to practice Chinese on given, adjustable, real-world topics!

Standard Chinese (also known as Mandarin) is the standard and most widely spoken dialect of the Chinese language. As such, Chinese is essential for Americans interested in doing business, vacationing, or studying in China. As Chinese business people, tourists, and scholars travel to the United States in growing numbers, Americans are also finding Chinese very useful at home.

Join us for practical and enjoyable courses in Chinese. Most courses meet one session per week on the KU Edwards Campus. Fascinated by Chinese characters and want to learn to read as well as speak Chinese? Try Comprehensive Chinese!

These are non-credit courses, and no academic credit is offered through the University of Kansas. For students interested in more advanced, intensive, and academic study of the Chinese language, please consider the offerings at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Johnson County Community College, and Kansas State University.
