Comprehensive Chinese 1

Comprehensive Chinese I is the foundation course in a series of non-credit classes that will cover listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Chinese. The foundation course will cover an introduction to pronunciation, the standard, Pinyin spelling system for writing Chinese with a Latin alphabet, and the basics of reading and writing Chinese characters, as well as practical phrases for basic conversations in Chinese. The introduction to spoken Chinese will include phrases suitable to business settings as well as those for more casual conversations.
Students may participate in an optional assessment at the end of the course. Students who pass the assessment will be given a certificate of completion.

  • Duration: 12 weeks, one session per week, 1.5 hours per session.
  • Course fee: $200, includes instructional materials.
